Weingut Herbert Meßmer
Info:
The Meßmer winery was founded in Burrweiler by Herbert Meßmer more than 60 years ago in 1960. By this time, the mostly yellow sandstone buildings had already housed more than 250 years of wine history.
The family winery is managed by Martin Meßmer, the son of the winery founder. While Martin is responsible for the management, sales and marketing, his wife Özlem is mainly in charge of the vinotheque. But founder Herbert Meßmer Sr. also remains true to his life's work and, at the age of over 80, can still be found at the winery from time to time. Since 01.09.2019, Jonas Bosch has completed the company in the role of operations manager and is leading it into the future together with the family. The wines have been certified organic since the 2020 vintage.
The winery has been a member of Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP), the oldest winegrowers' association in the world, since 1997. The VDP eagle on the bottle is both an incentive and an obligation to maximise the production and quality standards that have always existed.
