Weingut Langenwalter
Info:
"Where fruit and wine thrive, life must also be pleasant" must have been the thinking of the ancient Romans when they brought the vines to the Palatinate. The Langenwalter winery has taken advantage of the fertile soils in Weisenheim am Sand and has been growing grapes here since the 17th century. Part of the further development of the winery has been the conversion to very close-to-nature viticulture and openness to new technologies.
The focus is on white and red Burgundy and Portugieser, but the repertoire also includes modern varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon. The red sandstone weathered soils, the clayey weathered soils and lime marl soils offer optimal conditions for the different grape varieties. The production of high-quality wines requires many additional steps. For example, there is a greatly reduced pruning, intensive foliage work, green harvesting and selective hand harvesting. At the Langenwalters, great importance is attached to gentle grape processing. In the cellar they are always experimenting, for example with spontaneous fermentation, in order to get new wine characters. The white wines are full of character, typical of the variety, fruity and terroir-driven. The red wines have strong characters, a pleasant tannin structure and a suitable use of wood. Regular awards in trade journals and various competitions are proof of the quality striving of the winegrowing family
