THE KREBS WINERY
The sunny south-western slopes of the southern Markgräflerland with their mineral, deep loam-loess soils and the Mediterranean climate are the ideal foundation for fruity and full-bodied wines. Our family vineyard is located on the outskirts of Binzen, where we are now in our seventh generation of winegrowers, and from where you can sometimes walk to a part of our vineyards.
The preservation and use of natural resources is of particular importance to us in our outdoor cultivation. On a total of seven hectares, we grow Gutedel, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and a few other white grape varieties, as well as Pinot Noir, which is typical for the region, and some Dornfelder.
Looking back, however, this was not always the case.
Many generations - all of them with the name Johann Jakob Krebs - worked as "coopers of Binzen", mainly producing wooden barrels from local oak, thus laying the foundation for today's winery over the years.
