Weingut Zöhrer
Info:
The roots of the Zöhrer Winery & Family go back to the time of the Babenbergs in Austria's history. Around 1300, Albrecht I (1245-1308) enfeoffed twenty of his most loyal followers with farmland, riparian forests, orchards and vineyards in and around Weinzierl (today a district of Krems), the Lehnherren von Krems/Weinzierl. The Zöhrer family was one of the last internationally active vineyards of the Lehnherr von Krems/Weinzierl.
Anton Zöhrer has been handed down the knowledge and tradition of the family for generations. He consistently works on exploiting the potential of the great vineyards, which are among the most important in the Krems Valley. For it is there, in the terroir of Ried Kremser Sandgrube, Ried Kremser Weinzierlberg, Ried Kremser Gebling, Ried Kremser Thurnerberg, Ried Kremser Limberg & Ried Kremser Goldberg, that the strength of the Zöhrer winery lies.
The vines were largely planted by the grandfather & father 40 - 100 years ago, the focus is on the varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. The wines have an unmistakable profile, are characterised by terroir and enjoy international recognition appreciation.
