Family-owned for over 200 years, the winery has been run by Ernst F. Loosen since 1988. He believes that great wines are the perfect expression of the soil, the climate and the grape variety. With the legacy of his ancestors - ungrafted, old vines in historic great vineyards in the Middle Moselle - he has found exactly the material he needs to produce independent, complex, world-class wines. Today, Dr Loosen is internationally recognised as the figurehead for a rediscovered German Riesling culture. The winery has been a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter) since 1993.
