Weingut Diefenhardt
Info:
Quality, precision and the right mix of tradition and modernity, that's what we stand for at Weingut Diefenhardt. We want to produce wines that give people pleasure, as companions for the beautiful and enjoyable moments in life.
Today, the winery is run by our family in the fourth and fifth generation. in 1917 Jakob Diefenhardt, the great-great-grandfather, acquired the property in Martinsthal from Baron von Reichenau. After the unexpected death of Jakob Diefenhardt and his only son, Ludwig Diefenhardt, his grandson Hans Herrmann Seyffardt, son of Helena Seyffardt née Diefenhardt, took over the vineyard in Martinsthal in 1950. Today, Julia is the fifth generation of the family to work in the winery. After completing her viticulture studies in Geisenheim and gaining experience abroad in South Africa and France, she has been managing the family winery in Eltville-Martinsthal together with her father Peter since 2014
Today we cultivate 18 hectares of vineyards in Martinsthal, Rauenthal and Eltville. In keeping with the tradition of the Rheingau, Riesling is our dominant grape variety with about 85% of the vineyard area, followed by Pinot Noir with 15%. In the future, we would like to expand our vine repertoire to include the grape variety Weißburgunder. A large part of the Martinsthal mountain sites Wildsau and Langenberg are in our possession and, due to their high content of phyllite slate, characterise very special types of Riesling. At the head of the mountain, surrounded by these vineyard sites, stands the striking and endearing vineyard house, which belongs to the winery and adorns our new label line as a trademark.
in 1999, the winery was admitted to the VDP, the Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter. The VDP eagle that adorns the neck of our wine bottles signifies one of the highest wine quality promises in Germany and signals top quality
