Wineguide:
Weingut Christoph Eifel
Info:
In the traditional Moselle wine village of Trittenheim (Bernkastel area), the Christoph Eifel winery is just a stone's throw away from its own vineyards, which are cultivated all year round. On around seven hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard sites Trittenheimer Altärchen, Trittenheimer Apotheke, Piesporter Goldtröpfchen as well as Dhroner Hofberg and Neumagener Rosengärtchen, around 90% Riesling as well as Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris are cultivated. The steep vineyards are cultivated in an environmentally friendly manner with reduced yields and consistent grape selection. The wines undergo controlled spontaneous fermentation and, depending on the type of wine, are matured in stainless steel tanks or in large oak barrels with long ageing on the fine lees.
As a true Mosel child, Christoph Eifel is proud to continue the traditions of the family winery. For him, cultivating the unique Riesling vineyards around his home is not work, but a passion that has been instilled in him from an early age.
The wines are created through the interplay of soil, climate and the winemaker's skills - in other words, through the harmony of man and nature. For Christoph, it is always fascinating and challenging at the same time to work with nature and all its peculiarities. As true Mosel children, the wines are unique and expressive. The gentle processing, accompanying fermentation measures and cellar master skills are adapted to do justice to the individuality of the wines.
