Anita und Hans Nittnaus
Info:
More than 30 years ago, Anita and Hans Nittnaus took over their parents' farm and have continuously developed their vision of terroir-based viticulture. The vineyards cover the northern edge of Lake Neusiedl, the south-western slopes on the flat eastern side around Gols consist of sandy loam,
some loess with partial pebble content. On the west side is the Leithagebirge, the last foothills of the Alps, with its southeast-facing slopes and characteristic limestone and slate soils. The vineyards are cultivated biodynamically and the cellars are vinified naturally. Important maxims of the winery are elegance, complexity and long shelf life, the main varieties are Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt and Merlot. Comondor and Pannobile are the great, noble cuvées of the house, Heideboden the cuvée with an excellent price-performance ratio. Hans Nittnaus is very passionate about realising his idea of Blaufränkisch on limestone and slate soils in Jois am Leithaberg. The Leithaberg DAC site wines (Chardonnay Freudshofer and Bergschmallister; Blaufränkisch Altenberg, Gritschenberg, Jungenberg and Lange Ohn) open up a new dimension of this top farm.
