Weingartmann Weine
Info:
The Weingartmann family name symbolises the history of the region around the Kulm in Eastern Styria. In the early 1800s, vines blossom on the slopes of Hening, Elzberg, Rosenkogl and Hochlangegg. Then came the liberation of the farmers and phylloxera. The plants die off, the vineyard houses where the grapes used to be pressed and vinified are history.
The farmers reinvent themselves. Green fodder production and livestock farming are introduced. In the 1960s, grandfather Weingartmann opens up the first orchard and apple growing becomes the new vocation. Father Weingartmann further specialised and professionalised the business in the 1990s. Together with his son, he allowed viticulture to flourish again on the Kulm, with a sustainable mindset. Since 2015, grapes have been ripening again on the Rosenkogl and Hochlangegg in organic cultivation, thus completing the cycle to the origin of the family name: Weingartmann.
