Info:
The company is based in Casalduni, in the Benevento region, in a triangle of land near the Taburno massif, where the raiders stopped and rested in the years when the unification of Italy began, and where clashes between Bourbon partisans and Savoy troops were extremely painful for the local population. A triangle of land made up of the Contrada Colli haystack, the Greek well and the Ferrarise forest, areas still steeped in stories and legends, including the curse of the robber's treasure found by a villager and then captured over the hills years through a series of impressive family hardships.
Now the situation has changed and the robbers have disappeared, although they remain in the name and on the labels to express pride in the history of their ancestors.
Meeting Toni and Romeo De Cicco is like seeing the region in reverse. We go back and talk about the land, putting its mere characteristics at the centre of the conversation, this proud land and subject of many historical crimes, often unknown to those who have turned their backs on this historical period, perhaps in the name of an obliging and even a little loose national history. Because whoever makes wine in the Sannio today is not only a farmer in the good and authentic sense of the word, but an entrepreneur open to the outside world.
Toni and Romeo are that and more. Back in 2004, for example, when the newly founded winery took its first steps, the decision to go organic was not just a philosophical one, but a clear and unambiguous one without any regrets. Years later, Terra di Briganti is now in full swing with the biodynamic conversion. After all, who would be happy about invasive chemistry when perhaps just be...
