St. Quirinus
Info:
Centuries ago, the monks of the Bavarian monastery of Tegernsee grew their wine in Oberplanitzing in Kaltern. The vineyards in Oberplanitzing, which was once called "Planties superior", supplied the wine that the Benedictines needed for themselves and the many high-ranking visitors. Even then, they knew where good wine grew.
St. Quirinus, the church patron of the monastery, gives his name to the Sinn family's wine farm. Even today, a wayside shrine dedicated to St. Quirinus stands at the site, which once marked the boundary of the vineyards.
The cellar was planned and built according to functional principles: Much is left to gravity, unnecessary waste of energy runs counter to the overall concept.
The house is self-sufficient in energy, has a heating system with regionally produced biomass and the possibility to collect rainwater for the sanitary facilities and for the garden.
The cellar is painted in typical wine colours: black and Bordeaux red dominate - along with the materials steel, wood and clay for the wine barrels or amphorae.
