Petra
Info:
Petra is a natural oasis that extends over 300 hectares. A lush amphitheatre bordering the Colline Metallifere and the Montioni Park, it opens to the southwest towards the island of Elba and the Tyrrhenian Sea. In this particular microcosm with a strong agricultural orientation and low rainfall, wine culture has developed throughout the ages, from the time of the Etruscans and Greeks, through the French domination of the 19th century to the present day.
in 1997, Francesca Moretti's dream took shape in Suvereto, a place situated between the sea and the hills in the wild Val di Cornia in Tuscany's Maremma. From the beginning, the project wanted to highlight the beauty of the surroundings as well as convey the specific agronomic identity of the micro-terroirs in each wine.
The work in the cellar is enriched by the work of architect Mario Botta, which has become such a significant element that it shapes the wine itself.
The basis of Petra's production philosophy is respect for biodiversity and nature, among other things by minimising the mechanical treatment of the grapes and must thanks to the gently sloping design of the processing rooms.
