The emerging Pico Maccario winery is the work of brothers Pico and Vitaliano Maccario. While Pico is responsible for vinification, his younger brother Vitaliano is in charge of wine marketing.
The vineyards bequeathed by grandfather Carlo form the basis of the estate in Mombaruzzo and the Langhe, which has now grown to 112 hectares. Each bottle is decorated with a rose, a reference to the 5000 rose bushes planted in front of each row of vines. With 88 hectares, the most important grape variety is Barbera, which finds ideal conditions in the vineyards around Mombaruzzo. The vineyard is completed by Nebbiolo for Barolo and Barbaresco (11 hectares), Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc (10 hectares each) and the indigenous Moscato vine (4 hectares). The winery, built with the scientific support of the University of Agriculture of Turin, guarantees the optimal processing of the naturally grown grapes. The Pico Maccario winery is synonymous with elegant, finely fruity Barbera wines with an excellent quality/price ratio.
