The winegrowing families of the St. Pauls Winery cultivate their vineyards with the utmost care and largely by hand - 180 hectares of prime sites in one of the most beautiful wine-growing areas in South Tyrol. A great task to which we dedicate ourselves with combined efforts.
Founded in 1907, the St. Pauls winery has for generations focused on wines with a clear identity that highlight the special features of our terroirs. St. Pauls is characterised by a natural diversity of sites. At different altitudes (300 to 700 metres above sea level), orientations and soils, each grape variety finds its optimal location.
The hills from the last ice age contain numerous types of rock: porphyry, loam, sand, loess, moraine debris and dolomite boulders from the Gantkofel towering steeply above St. Pauls. The grapes take on the characteristics of these soils and reflect them in the wines, which become fruity, juicy and powerful. They captivate with complexity and elegance.
The abundant and powerful sun ensures perfectly ripened fruit, the cool downdrafts from the mountains provide considerable temperature fluctuations during the ripening period, which maintain the acidity. This results in high-quality grapes that are harvested by hand according to an old tradition - the best prerequisites for excellent quality.
