Clos d'Agon
Info:
Clos d'Agon is located in the beautiful area of Calonge, on the Catalan Costa Brava. Historic olive trees, cork oak trees, holm oaks and native flora are the backdrop to a legendary culture already associated with wine. Around 500 years ago vineyards were already being cultivated here.
In November 1998, we began to be advised by Peter Sisseck (Pingus) for more than 10 years. At present, and since 2008, the technical management is in the hands of the young oenologist Miguel Coronado.
The vineyard is located at the source of "Les Gavarres", surrounded by the mountains of this protected natural area, which form a kind of amphitheatre facing the sea. The total surface area of the property covers around 42 hectares, of which approximately 16 are planted with vines.
The red varieties used are Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Merlot and the white varieties Viognier, Marsanne and Roussane. We have recently converted some plots of land to plant red, white and grey Garnacha.
We work in integrated production, sustainable and rational agriculture. We take care of the vineyard as if it were a garden, working mainly by hand.
We try to obtain the highest quality grapes possible, which will be reflected in the wine obtained.
