Character and charm, skill and creativity, knowledge and appreciation: we pack all this into our wines. You can taste it, and you can get to know us a little better with every bottle, with every drop. Because although the wines In Focus are ours, it naturally takes hands and brains to make them.
We are the Michel family: Karen, Ulrich and four children. We are the eighth generation to run the winery, which was founded in 1173 by the Cistercian monastery of Otterberg, a daughter monastery of the famous Eberbach Monastery. The monks left, the wine stayed; our ancestors have managed the estate since 1645, and have owned it since 1780. What has also remained is the family flair for history, coupled with the pioneering spirit that drives us.
