Château Mont-Redon
Info:
Château Mont-Redon is located in the north-west of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The estate has the privilege of owning the three emblematic terroirs of the appellation: mainly the pebbles of the plateau, then the safres (compact sand) and the Urgonian limestones. These three very complementary terroirs are the cornerstone of the complexity and quality of our wines.
Henri Plantin (1890 - 1966) acted as a pioneer. In 1923, long before the creation of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in 1936, he acquired this estate, isolated from the village and surrounded by woods. A visionary, he set about grouping the various plots around the estate, anticipating the exceptional nature of the terroir on the plateau overlooking Mont-Redon, which was then covered with scrubland and groves. As a pioneer, he decided to clear this unused land and plant vines on the rolled pebbles.
We also produce Gigondas and Côtes-de-Provence.
