Since day one the members have worked continuously, introducing new knowledge and innovating. Founded in 1917, it is currently one of the most celebrated wineries of the Montsant Designation of Origin in Priorat County.
Our aim is to make a great product whilst still paying homage to our traditions. This helps to define what we make. We work hard and long on our red clay soils to transmit the values which are the foundation blocks of our winery. This soil, a predominant factor of our village, directly influences the quality of the grapes we grow. The sun's rays are reflected on the red soils back onto the grapes above, helping them to ripen effectively.
Grenache and Carignan are the local grape varieties of our area. Even though both are characteristic of our land, at Celler Masroig, we believe Carignan to be the foundation of our wines. People say that if we fill our days with hard work, the years will take care of themselves and we must say that Carignan definitely improves with age! The older it gets, the more spirited it becomes. As it ages, it understands that ambition is something which only the young should enjoy. It wisely learns to concentrate on the smaller details. And of course, all good things come to those who wait.
The Celler Masroig team would like to share all this with their customers. They are committed to the land and have maintained these emotional ties with the quality products they offer their customers.
