You won't be surprised: The name "edelrausch" came about over a good bottle of wine. The corresponding company came later when the founders hung up their learned professions. The physician Dr. Uwe Seifert worked as an anaesthetist until he turned his hobby into a profession. Former colleagues joke today that he only changed anaesthetics. The Danish trade officer Alice Karstensen switched from the Danish Consulate General to the wine industry.
Since then, wines from all over the world have been coming directly from the vintner to Dresden. The assortment includes many other luxury foods and accessories, a total of more than 3,000 international specialities. Since 1999, edelrausch has been supplying renowned hotels and restaurants. For private customers, there are three branches in Dresden and Leipzig as well as an online shop. Wine is shipped nationwide and to numerous European countries.
The leading food magazine "Der Feinschmecker" named the edelrausch wine shop the best wine shop in Saxony in 2012. The supplement "Die besten Weinläden" (The best wine shops) provides information about the 600 best addresses in Germany, with special mention of the edelrausch branch on Albertplatz. In the two other branches of the same range - at Schillerplatz in Dresden and on Könneritzstraße in Leipzig - dedicated wine enthusiasts look forward to curious new and old customers.
