The territory of Chianti Colli Fiorentini lies between 150 and 400 m a.s.l. on the average lower with respect to Chianti Classico and Chianti Rufina, Colli Aretini and Colli Senesi but higher with respect to Montalbano, Colli Pisani and Montespertoli. The area is hilly as most of Chianti, with average slopes slightly more gentle with respect to Classico and Rufina but steeper with respect to Colli Pisani, Colli Senesi and Montespertoli. Basically climatic conditions are uniform, even though, in such a hilly area, microclimates and slope exposures become fundamental.
The denomination Chianti Colli Fiorentini covers a large belt of hills in 18 different municipalities surrounding Florence: Barberino Val d’Elsa, Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, Montespertoli, Certaldo, San Casciano Val de Pesa, Montelupo Fiorentino, Lastra a Signa, Scandicci, Impruneta, Firenze, Bagno a Ripoli, Fiesole, Pontassieve, Rignano sull’Arno, Pelago, Regello, Incisa Vald’Arno and Figline).
