Info:
Our winery can look back on more than one hundred years of successful history, which has been and still is characterised by constant development.
We are proud of this and would like to summarise our history in the following short chronicle
Business philosophy, which is still characterised by the principle: "Preserving tradition and yet breaking new ground".
In 1910, the current location of our winery with its large cross-vaulted cellar was acquired by our ancestor, master baker Kaspar Bibo, to enable us to expand our wine production.
Further purchases and leases of vineyards steadily increased the size of our winery.
My father's love of Pinot Noir prompted him to plant his first vineyard in Kiedrich in 1967.
This Pinot Noir was first offered as a Pinot Blanc and since 1983 as a red wine.
In the years that followed, the winery was expanded by extending the cellar area so that a much larger area was available for storage than the 4.5 hectares cultivated at the time.
In 1985, after successfully completing my examination to become a master winemaker in 1983, I took over the winery together with my wife Petra, which we still run today. Since then, our business has grown continuously to its current size of just under 10 hectares.
We introduced Dornfelder as a new grape variety for the red wines and Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Roter Riesling for the white wines.
Nevertheless, our main focus is still on the white Riesling, which has also won numerous awards.
In our wine tavern, which has been run by my wife Petra since 1987, guests are spoilt with delicious food and good wine, including a good atmosphere, of course.
This also contributes significantly to the success of our winery.
The majority of our wines are marketed to private customers, but our clientele also includes catering establishments and specialist retailers. For example, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra also offers wines from our estate.
