Weingut Robert König
Info:
Winegrowing is mentioned in the König family as early as 1704. Today, the vineyard has reached a size of around 9 hectares and is thus one of the largest red wine producers in the Rheingau.
The vineyards are located in the Assmannshäuser sites HÖLLENBERG, FRANKENTHAL, HINTERKIRCH,and in Rüdesheim in the RÜDESHEIMER DRACHENSTEIN. In the steep slopes, red wines of high quality are harvested through selective harvesting. Here, 85% of the grapes are Pinot Noir. Due to the low yields, the soil produces the velvety red wines for which Assmannshausen is famous. 90% of the red wines are vinified dry, the rest semi-dry. Traditional maceration and ageing exclusively in wooden barrels characterise these wines.
