Since 2004, the Engler wine estate has been run by Andrea Engler-Waibel, a Geisenheim graduate, in the 4th generation. in 1892, her great-grandfather established the winery in the centre of Müllheim. 12 ha of vines are planted with 20% Gutedel,30% Pinot Noir and 35% Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. The Engler vineyard is known for its Gutedel, is a five-time Gutedel Cup winner and lives the tradition of this Markgräfler speciality. Microclimate, soil, topography on the one hand, gentle and near-natural cultivation without the use of herbicides for more than 35 years and by means of seeding for a better biodiversity on the other hand lead with a lot of commitment and experience to the enjoyable result. "Our goal is to produce wines that are fun to drink and accompany food perfectly," enthuses oenologist Andrea Engler-Waibel.
The great passion is to produce fine, fruity wines that present themselves lively and buoyant in the glass. This lightness and modernity and the awareness of traditions are also emphasised by the Engler family and their team in the design of the vinotheque. It blends harmoniously into the 18th century courtyard. Every wine and sparkling wine can be tasted here before purchasing. The Markgräfler way of life and wine culture can also be experienced at numerous wine events and farm festivals.
