Vinogradi Nuić d.o.o.
Info:
The history of Weingut Nuić began in 2004, when the exceptionally beautiful Orlovac site was cultivated. The rocky red soil was painstakingly worked by hand and over 30,000 vines were planted on an area of 7 hectares. Besides the Herzegovinian autochthonous varieties Žilavka, Blatina and Trnjak, Bena and Krkošija as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante Bouschet and Plavac Mali were also planted.
At the beginning of 2008, three wines were launched: Žilavka, Blatina and Blatina Barrique. In the same year, with the help of the stone crusher ''Trencor'', the Dugolaze site was also cultivated, located halfway between the villages of Crnopod and Medjugorje. The position is in a valley surrounded by magnificent mountains, through which the bora wind from the Velež Mountains blows and dries the rocks from the morning dew, thus keeping the vines healthy.
Before cultivation, the site was a rocky plateau covered with the typical vegetation of Herzegovina, especially rosehip, thorn, heather, sage, immortelle and juniper. Today, the scents of these plants can be found in the wines of this site.
In 2009, 7 hectares were planted in Dugolaza and in 2010 another 21 hectares of vineyards were planted. In addition to the existing varieties, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Touriga National and, of the white varieties, Pošip from Korčula were planted here for the first time.
