Ackerman
Info:
Founded in 1811, Ackerman - a pioneer in fine Loire bubbles - specialises in the production of Saumur and Crémant de Loire appellations using the traditional method. Ackerman is a key player in the Loire Valley, combining tradition and innovation, and its blends have an expressive and aromatic style, offering you vintages with a subtle, perfectly balanced and gourmet profile. An experience filled with emotion, dear to its founder Jean-Baptiste Ackerman.
In 1831, Jean-Baptiste Ackerman experimented with the traditional method in the Loire Valley. After having supplied must to Champagne winegrowers for years, he decided, with his characteristic audacity, to produce his own fine bubbles and marketed his first bottles in 1834 with unanimous success. His wines were awarded gold at the Angers industrial exhibition (1838) and at the Paris universal exhibition (1855), surpassing many champagnes. He was the first and only one, for 40 years, to produce fine bubbly wines in Saumur.
In the 1850s, Jean-Baptiste Ackerman associated his son Louis-Ferdinand with the House of Ackerman-Laurance. Together, they directed the production and marketing of sparkling wines towards England and created a legendary brand: Royal. Louis-Ferdinand took advantage of the opening of world trade to develop the family business through innovative advertising campaigns for the time. He also built up a strong network of ambassadors and loyal customers around the world. It is thanks to him that the name and wines of the Ackerman House are now known internationally.
Today, the management of our vineyards on the Domaine "Les Dames de la Vallée" is exclusively adapted to the requirements of fine bubbles. We attach particular importance to freshness, aromas and balance in order to offer exceptional fine bubbles.
