Weingut Schneiderfritz GbR
Info:
The winery is located in the municipality of Billigheim (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. It was founded in 1906 by Ernst and Minna Nuss. Today, the company consists of two business branches, winegrowing and an attached restaurant. The business is run by Brigitte Schneiderfritz and her son Martin Schneiderfritz, Dipl.Ing.(FH) for viticulture and oenology, who also acts as cellar master and oenologist. Kathrin (Martin's wife) and Michael Schneiderfritz are responsible for marketing and the restaurant. The white wines are largely matured in steel tanks, with experiments being carried out with spontaneous fermentation and the use of barriques. The red wines are generally fermented on the skins. The Pinot Noir is matured in large wooden barrels and in some cases for up to 24 months in barrique. The premium wines are the spontaneously fermented Riesling "Steingebiss" with long lees ageing (4,500 l/ha) as well as the Francophile Pinot Noir "Venu...
